475 venues across 104 areas — from city-centre convention floors to country estates.
The Western Cape blends serious conference infrastructure with natural backdrop — ideal for corporate retreats, incentive trips and destination conferences. Cape Town leads the province with the CTICC and dense hotel-conference capacity around the V&A Waterfront, CBD and Camps Bay. The Cape Winelands (Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek) are the country's top wine-estate conference destinations, combining working meeting space with hospitality. The Garden Route (George, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay) suits longer retreats and team building. Somerset West and the Helderberg offer a quieter, more affordable alternative to central Cape Town without losing access. Most Cape Town venues handle international delegates well; allow 45–60 minutes airport transfer time to most suburbs.
The Western Cape is South Africa's second-largest economy and arguably the country's most distinctive conference destination. The combination of mountain-and-ocean geography, the Cape Winelands, and a Mediterranean climate that holds for the November–April peak season makes it the default choice for incentive programmes, destination conferences and executive retreats where the venue itself is part of the deliverable.
Cape Town and the Cape Metro. The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) on the Foreshore is the largest venue in the province — a flexible 130,000m² complex hosting events from 50 to 10,000 delegates. The CBD, V&A Waterfront, Sea Point, Camps Bay and Constantia each have their own character; Century City and Bellville handle the lower-cost, larger-volume end of corporate conferencing. Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek anchor the Cape Winelands — wine-estate venues here combine working conference space with on-site accommodation, dining, and tasting facilities.
The Garden Route. George (with direct flights from Joburg and Cape Town), Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Wilderness extend the conference offering along the southern Cape coast — strong for multi-day executive retreats and incentive trips. The Garden Route works particularly well between September and April when the weather is reliable.
The West Coast. Langebaan, Saldanha, Yzerfontein and the Cederberg cater for smaller, destination-led events — quieter, lower density, bigger landscapes.
Transport and climate. Cape Town International Airport handles direct flights from across SA, plus international long-haul to Europe, the UAE, Singapore and the US. George Airport links the Garden Route. Most Cape Town suburbs are within 25–45 minutes of the airport. Summer (November–March) is dry and warm; winter (June–August) is cool and wet but reliably temperate. Day-delegate rates run from R900 at mid-market hotels up to R2,800+ at premium estates.
